GROUNDED

“Grounded” embarks on a journey to capture the profound essence of human interconnection, weaving a tapestry of life’s seasons entwined with the body and the environment.

Inspired by the cyclical rhythms of existence, I draw upon the primal life movement—the charge and discharge, the contraction and expansion—that mirrors the pulsatory process at the heart of all living beings. Within this symphony of cycles, "Grounded" portrays the delicate balance between giving and receiving, symbolized by winter's embrace, where endings pave the way for soulful reconnection and a red watering can as the source for life.

As Pema Chödrön said, "To live is to be willing to die over and over again."

Amidst the harshest conditions, the woman in the photograph emanates a composure with a calm facial expression, curled body posture, and gentle touch of her hands to the ground, radiating harmonious balance, where safety and trust create a sanctuary for vulnerability and authentic expression. I delve into the unspoken language of sensations and emotions that emanate from the woman’s raw nature. Her shape reflects the embodiment of kinship and love.

An invitation to witness the sacredness of co-regulatory experiences, fostering a sense of resonance and belonging that transcends words.

“Grounded” stands as a testament to the profound influence of somatic awareness in art, where its language of the felt sense reminds us that embracing connection is woven through presence, kindness, and attunement—qualities that form the cornerstone for growth and transformative relationships with self, others, and the environment. It is my belief that when we receive without sharing, the result is stagnation-just as trapped water becomes rotten, so, too, does love become fouled when its flow is blocked.

Let us reflect together on the art of connection, where the dance of giving and receiving nourishes our souls, and maybe breathes life into our enigmatic human experience.
